Pillows: traditional design

In the style of a country or an attic, a vintage or a country villa - depending on the fabrics, the pillows made of shreds with a historical design will give the interior a noble zest.

YOU WILL NEED:
9 squares of cotton fabric size. 15 x 15 cm as a patchwork backing.
9 small squares of the same size and strips of different sizes matching each other in color and pattern of fabrics
Square cotton fabric (muslin) size. 41 x 41 cm as a substrate for the finished piece of shreds.
Ready edging for cushion edges approx. 2 m
Sewing threads in a suitable color.
Cotton square fabric size 41 x 41 cm for the back of the pillow.
Packing size 38 x 38 cm.

To arrange
With a pencil, draw diagonal lines on a square of cotton fabric to mark the location of the first square of shreds. Place the smaller square in the middle of the larger one so that the corners of the small square lie on diagonal lines. It is very important not to stretch the fabric.

Main technique
To impose and outline the first strip face to face - its width is equal to half the side of the square, the length to the side of the square.
Tip: it is better to first cut out each strip a little longer than necessary, and after sewing, trim accordingly.

Sew
Stitch a strip of fabric on the machine, remove the basting thread, wrap it on the front side through the seam, iron it. Then sew the second strip at right angles to the first in a similar way, face to face.The width and length of the strips can be different, but you need to stitch them so that the four strips form a square.

Continue
Sew the next two strips - you get a square of shreds. Following the same principle, sew and stitch along the edges of the square of shreds the following four strips, so that an even larger square is obtained.

To start
When the square of the substrate is completely filled with stitched patches, make another 8 squares of patches in the same way. After this, 8 squares are poured into one large square with allowances 1 cm wide. Patchwork detail is sewn onto a square of cotton fabric.

Assembly
To edging a edging on a detail from shreds, the thickened fold lies inside. Chop the bottom side of the pillow face to face and stitch it on the top. Set aside the packing hole in the seam. Insert packing and sew in the hole in the seam.
