How to decorate an embroidery jar for storing buttons

The decor in the form of a cross embroidered flower motif will add a handmade charm to the jar for storing buttons. A patterned cuff with elastic tape at the bottom keeps the can lid tightly closed.

You will need:

Threads:

• 1 skein of Anchor floss in the following colors: 1010, 48, 280, 47

• 1 spool of red thread for sewing Coats Cotton 50

Materials:

• canvas for embroidery (126 F / 10 cm) in natural color (for example, Belfast from Zweigart) 15 x 15 cm

• fabric with a pattern (from Free Spirit) 6 x 35 cm

• red felt (for example, from Witte Engel) 15 x 15 cm

• 2 color buttons in a suitable size

• glass jar with a glass lid

Accessories:

• needle for embroidery

• needle for sewing

• tailor's scissors

• elastic tape 6 cm long and 2 cm wide

• gear scissors


How to embroider a "coil" motif


Step 1

Embroider a flower with a cross in 3 threads of a mouline thread on a canvas of a natural color.

Step 2

Cut a circle from red felt to the jar lid. Measure the length of the cuff.

Step 3

Sew buttons to the embroidered motif, cut the flower with scissors.

Step 4

From a fabric with a pattern, cut a strip 6 cm less than the length of the cuff. Fold the strip along in half with the front side inward, grind the longitudinal sections, twist, insert elastic tape at the ends.


Beginner Embroidery: 6 Basic Stitches


Step 5

Insert the cuff from the fabric between the flower and the red felt, fix it manually with a few stitches.
