The welded hinges or welded hinges in the frame look great and definitely enhance the class of your product. But what if you have large buttons of a non-standard shape?

We already talked about how to learn how to make enveloping loops before, so we recommend that you master this sewing wisdom first before moving on to modeling curly welded loops in a frame.

Sewing school: welded buttonhole

If you plan to use buttons of a non-standard shape, traditional looped frames may not be suitable for your idea. In this case, you can approach the task creatively and create unusual curly obtachnye loops.

Step 1

Prepare the design for your future loops by drawing an accurate outline on paper.

Step 2

Glue the base fabric before making a hole for the future loop. Also prepare and strengthen two pieces of fabric.

Step 3

Prepare a section of silk organza and transfer the scheme to it.

Step 4

Lay the organza on the front of the fabric and sew, starting not from the corner, but from the middle of one of the sides. Cut the allowances between the lines, not reaching the corner of 1-2 mm.

In this case, the organza performs the function of turning, but its use is also justified by the fact that it will not add excessive density to the layers, and in addition, it will have an additional stabilizing effect.

Step 5

Unscrew the organza along with the seam allowances on the wrong side and carefully iron so that it is not visible from the front.

Step 6

Fold the prepared rectangles with their faces facing each other and sew in the middle, iron.

Step 7

We put our “window” on the future loop and sew it according to the allowances manually or on a typewriter. To prevent the parts from moving relative to each other, lay a basting line, and also for fixing and additional stabilization during operation, you can use the glue web, as shown in the video. But it should be borne in mind that during the operation of the product, for example, in dry cleaning, the adhesive can be deformed, therefore this method is inferior to the basting.

Step 8

Sew the details together with a blind stitch from the wrong side along the edge of the oval hole. This manual technique can be found in our master class:

Remove the basting stitch, and then cut the buttonhole.

Using this method, you can create a wide variety of curly loops in a frame. Moreover, the same loop will look completely different with different buttons - here you are limited only by your own imagination!
