In this way, you can strengthen the hole in which the grommet is lost, or treat holes for cords from scratch in this way.
Most often, the cringle is lost in knitwear: the knitwear stretches, and the metal part falls out. And the edges of the hole for the cord are unprocessed. If you leave everything as it is, the hole will stretch even more, the knit loops can open. Using the method from this master class, you can process such a hole from a dropped eyelet. Or - holes for the cord, if you are sewing the product from scratch, and there are no eyelets or you do not want to install them for some reason.
I will show the master class on another knitwear with contrasting threads, so that it is more understandable.
How to sew a hole on a knitwear: 7 different ways to repair different holes
You will need:
- non-thin threads (suitable floss);
- needle for hand sewing;
- scissors;
- needle threader.
How to wash knitwear: 8 simple rules
Step 1
First you need to walk along the edge of the hole with a thread in several additions. We sew a needle with a simple seam forward. For strength, you can flash around the hole twice.
If the knitwear around the hole is stretched, it can be pulled a little thread, returning the material evenness. It is clear that there is no need to tighten too much. If the item is not being repaired, but sewn from scratch, the part of the part where the hole will be cut can be pre-strengthened with a piece of glue from the inside. But in this case, after cutting a hole, its edges should be strengthened by flashing around.
Step 2
We put into the needle a thread that is not as thick as in the previous step (here - a floss in 3 additions, in the first step there were 6 additions). We process the hole with a buttonhole stitch so that the chain of stitches does not go along the edge of the hole, but forms another circle around it (see photo).
Step 3
With a thread of the same thickness as in step 2, we lay the second stitch seam. We make the stitches so that the needle enters between the stitches of the seam laid in step 2. The chain of stitches should now go along the edge of the hole, closing it.
So, when the second circle is sewn with a buttonhole, the hole will be firmly, gently and tightly worked with stitches on both sides. Done.
