So called "quilts" Annemieke Maine - artists from Australia. Her products include sewing and embroidery - manual and machine, stitch, fabric pattern, felting and many other techniques.
Native Dutchwoman, in 1956, as a teenager, Annemieke Maine and her parents moved to Australia. Mother was a professional seamstress, father was a dental technician and a virtuoso prosthesis manufacturer. It is not surprising that the daughter showed the talents of her parents, and since in addition she was distinguished by perseverance, love of details and ethnology, and she also came to a country of incredible natural beauty, then, left to herself for the most part, she began to explore the wonderful world of Australian plants and animals and study painting.
After graduating from school, Annemieke entered to study painting courses, but soon continued her education in the medical field (Royal melbourne hospital) Then she got married, gave birth to children, moved with her husband to the state of Victoria. And ... she continued to paint, study the animal world (she worked as the chief consultant for butterflies at the Melbourne Zoo), wrote and illustrated the book "Butterflies of Australia", etc., etc., and most importantly - she continued to learn more and more for self needlework techniques. She sewed, embroidered, weaved macrame, felted wool, wove and spun, knitted and crocheted, engaged in clay modeling, and furniture restoration. And as a result, large picturesque canvases appeared, made using the technique of volumetric patchwork, appliqués and embroidery, which were recently given the name of textile sculpture.
The artist is almost 70 years old (born in 1944), but she continues to exhibit and acquire more and more admirers of her art around the world. She received recognition among professionals - Annemieke Mein (Annemieke Mein) - a member of the Australian Guild of Realistic Artists (the only one who creates paintings from textiles) and the Society of Australian Wildlife Art.
